tracy chapman: change

i always claim tracy chapman to be my favorite musician of all time.
i believe her lyrics are beautiful and classic because her words speak
simply to humankind. Her voice is beautifully soothing with such
contradicting coarseness and then peacefulness, the way you can
almost feel the air she breathes as she sings. this song seems
appropriate for my life right now, but i do not think i would know
where to start in picking only one favorite song by, tracy chapman.

dave matthews band: #41

in 5th grade a very peculiar girl moved to my town.
she was interested in art, music, and i was intrigued.
we became best friends, invented our own secret language, and
listened to music, always talking about our future...
she introduced me to dave matthews band, and we both
remained dedicated fans throughout the high school years,
attending concerts that we were probably too young to be at.
she's now trying out the acting in la, and im going to do the
art and music in chicago. we both inspired each other.

elton john: tiny dancer

i grew up in a small beach town in connecticut
music was not huge in my family, but i remember being
about 8 (this is a complete guess), and as my parents and i
were leaving a ballet in hartford, this song came on the radio.
my dad asked me if i knew it was, and artists, names, didn't
really mean anything to me then, but the words struck a
chord. i started dancing when i was three, and i still had a
romantic vision of growing up to be a ballerina living in
new york, dancing with a company, trying to make it big on
broadway. when elton john sang these words to me that
night, as i hopped into my childproofed spot in the back seat
of our boneville i knew that listening to music would help me
to see the world and see myself in a whole new way.
so elton, if you are listening, i hope i made you smile, funky
shades, femme swagger, trendy shirt and all. we all inspire
someone. and we all inspire many that we will never know.
so always listen for the music and you may find this true
more often.
with peace and love we make music, rebecca hill.

rebecca hill is making some changes

Hello to all my followers,

(for those of you who still exist, since my last
blog identity "inatownclosetoindiana" was
stolen from me... i apologize to any of you who
have not been able to find me, but i hope we will
cross paths again)

I was planning on moving to Los Angeles post
graduation this may, but due to an opportunity
to do some free-lance art work and try out the
music thing for a bit I will be moving to Chicago.
So much of the focus of this blog will probably
be in the area... I am really excited about this
sudden, unexpected, upcoming adventure and I
hope your ears will all follow me.  I will be only
doing this more now that I am free from the
stress of college life and without the responsibilities
of a "real job" quite yet... I would like to finish off the
month of april posting the bands who have influenced
me starting from the very beginning.  I hope these
posts help you to get to know me a bit better before
I start this summer off in a different key. feel free to
always leave me comments, ideas, thoughts, requests or
anything of the sorts to rebeccahilldesigns4u@gmail.com
now sing with me...

BAJOFONDO WAS AWESOME!

i was pleasantly surprised at just how amazing
bajofondo was at the wexner theatre in columbus this
past friday evening. i highly recommend those of you who
can still catch any of their upcoming shows, to do so.
the band's charisma and energy was reflected in the crowd,
and the quality of tuneage was undeniably unbelievable.
coming from uruguay and argentina, this fusion of music
was soothing, fun, and spicy. all good.
the acoustics at the venue were outstanding and the
entire experience was jubilantly dope.
congrats to BAJOFONDO for an amazing night
thanks for granting out ears some fine stuff to graze on.
